Piercing | Piercing Gallery 1 | Piercing Explained 1 | Piercing Explained 2

One of the main causes for problem piercings is not using common sense
Essentially a new piercing is a fresh wound and should be treated as such
Do not pick poke or prod
Always wash your hands before commencing your cleaning procedure
Do not turn, rotate or move your jewellery in any way
over cleaning is another cause for piercings to go wrong. 2-3 times daily is adequate

Cartilage piercing (ear rim, tregus, anti-tregus, daith, rook, helix, conch, rim to rim, orbital" and nostril):-
Healing times for the above piercing vary from person to person. Because of the position of the piercing greater care is needed when sleeping and pulling clothes on etc. However they usually take between 8-12 weeks.

Bridge:-

The bridge of the nose, as with the eyebrow is relatively hassle free although very in your face as it is situated in your line of vision which can be disconcerting at first, but after a short while it is no longer noticeable. Anaesthetic is also not permitted for this particular piercing. Healing time is around 6-8 weeks

Septum:-
A piercing for the enthusiast as the septum is quite high on the list of painful piercing although the area can be numbed it’s a bit of an eye waterer. Healing time is around 3-6 weeks as the actual piercing if done correctly should be situated in the soft membrane between the cartilage of the septum itself and the skin at the base of the nose.

Surface piercing:-
Surface piercing can have an amazing effect if done artistically i.e.. Ladders or corsets etc. however, depending on where they are situated can have a big effect on the length of time they last before the body rejects the jewellery. This varies greatly from person to person. If the person in question has a good strong immune system the jewellery could reject in a matter of months. If the client has a weaker immune system the piercing should stay unchanged for a lot longer

The easiest way to care for these piercings is to use Savlon wound wash spray. This contains mainly salt water which is an ideal, natural, healing solution for fresh wounds. Simply spray on the piercing, leave to soak in for about 5 mins and rinse off with some cooled boiled water, when you have finished lightly dab dry with a clean towel or tissue.
If you wish to make your own salt water, use no more than 2-3 small pinches of salt per full cup of boiled water. Then you can either apply as above or submerge the piercing for 5 mins before rinsing. Repeat twice daily. (Too much salt can deplete the skins moisture and cause a dry itchy rash)
