Oral piercing:- (tongue, fraenum, lip, labret and cheek),
These piercings are usually quick healers, especially the tongue as it contains a natural healing enzyme called peptide which speeds up the healing process.
There is usually some degree of swelling associated with oral piercing, with the exception of fraenum piercing it’s a good idea to use ice or cold drinks etc. to reduce the swelling for the first ten days or so. The jewellery used for the initial piercing should be large enough to accommodate this and after a period of around 2 weeks the jewellery can be changed to a smaller size to make it more comfortable.
Intimate/erotic piercing:- Clitoris hood, inner labia, outer labia,
The above are intimate piercings for the female. The clitoris hood is probably the most popular female intimate piercing due to the minimum fuss (it heals in under a week) and the immense pleasure it can bring to the client.
Xylocaine can be used to numb the area making it almost painless. As soon as the piercing is made there is an initial shock but immediately afterwards there is usually no pain at all. Labia piercings take a little longer to heal, usually about 10 days-2 weeks and again the area can be numbed making the piercing fairly pain free. The worst thing about genital piercings is the cringe factor involved and they are nowhere near as bad as you imagine.
Intimate/erotic piercings (male) Prince Albert,
The P.A is the most popular as the piercing itself is only going through the thin wall of the urethra. The main advantage of the P.A. is during intercourse the ring flicks around the glands of the penis which is quite pleasurable for the male however, the main benefit is for the female. Healing time is approx 2 weeks and because urine is sterile when it leaves the body the P.A is one of the most hygienic and easiest piercings to care for.
Reverse P.A, ampalang, apadravya, dido,
Although these piercings are fairly popular there is higher level of pain involved as the piercing itself goes through the glands of the penis where there are lots of nerve endings.
As with the Prince Albert, urinating will clean these piercings every time with the exception of the dido as this particular piercing is not situated in the urethra. In the early stages of healing it is advised to fill jug with warm water and submerge the glans to urinate as this will soothe any stinging, especially first thing in the morning when the urine is most potent. Healing times are around 4-6 weeks.
Nipple
Nipple piercing is one of the more sensitive piercing especially for men due to the vast number of nerves situated in the aureole. Ethyl chloride is used to freeze the area before piercing which helps to numb the sensation. After healing the piercing can increase sensitivity in the nipple especially for the female. (and it looks good too.)
The easiest way to care for these piercings is to use
Savlon wound wash spray. This contains mainly salt water which is an ideal, natural, healing solution for fresh wounds. Simply spray on the piercing, leave to soak in for about 5 mins and rinse off with some cooled boiled water, when you have finished lightly dab dry with a clean towel or tissue.
If you wish to make your own salt water, use no more than 2-3 small pinches of salt per full cup of boiled water. Then you can either apply as above or submerge the piercing for 5 mines before rinsing. Repeat twice daily. (Too much salt can deplete the skins moisture and cause a dry itchy rash)
